Everybody knows Mother Earth. Now, get to know Father Factory.
A term I borrow from renowned Philippine environmentalist, Odette Alcantara, Father Factory is the other side of the equation of saving the Earth that most of us forget. We cater to Mother Earth's cries but we don't hear Father Factory's woes. If we promote sustainable development, we should make sure it is being accomplished from start to finish, from production to disposal of goods. Everyday, millions of trash are being generated in the whole world from wasteful use of convenient packaging. In our city of Manila alone, trash could be seen along the streets, piling up until they clog drainages.

"Back to Father Factory" is a ten-year project wherein solid waste management companies are assisted and coordinated with business companies so that all collected segregated wastes would be classified, cleaned and returned back to these business companies so that their products' packaging could be utilized again thereby decreasing the cost of production. Not only does this solve the garbage crisis occurring in most developing countries, this would also lessen the use of raw materials. Inspired by Recycle Bank, an incentivization scheme would be incorporated so that the participation from the people would be easily elicited. With all stakeholders in waste generation and management, a (near) Zero Waste Earth is not a far possibility. This way, not only is Mother Earth pleased but Father Factory as well.
